Junior Redmen Program Mission:

The Natick Junior Redmen is a volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to provide a safe environment for youth to grow through teamwork, competition, sportsmanship, character building and always having fun.

B Team Program Philosophy:

Football is an exceptional personal development experience for youth.  Players will learn the invaluable lesson of how to work in cohesion with their teammates and to overcome great physical and mental challenges while maintaining continuous respect for themselves, their coaches and their opponents.  Every player on this year’s B Team will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our success this season by giving their very best effort at every practice and in every game.  There will be no insignificant member of this unit.  The following are the Core Values of the Natick Junior Redmen Football Program.

SAFETY: The physical safety of the players will be the paramount concern for all team members.

1        Emphasis will be placed at all times to ensure the proper techniques to protect against injury

2        All first aid supplies including special items (inhalers etc) will be kept in the team bag and all coaches will be  aware of all medical issues

3        Water will be available at all times throughout practices and games  and coaches will ensure that all players stay hydrated

COMPETITION:  Every player and coach will give 110% at all times to overcome the challenges of our competition and achieve a victorious season.

1        Every player will develop the physical grit, mental discipline and indomitable spirit that will maximize his future in football and beyond

2        Practices will be physically and mentally demanding and any lack of effort will not be tolerated

3        Our success on the field will be defined by our HUSSLE and determination to get better in every practice and in every game

TEAMWORK:  All coaches and players will treat each other with respect at all times and continually put the interests of the team before their own.

1        No insults between anyone on this team will be tolerated at any time

2        All criticism from coaches will be constructive and a continuous effort will be made by all coaches to recognize the positives as much or more frequently than the negatives

3        Every player and coach will accept their assigned role on the team and perform that role to the best of their ability.

This is a Team, NOT a Democracy!

SPORTSMANSHIP:   Football is an intense game but it is a game and as such good sportsmanship will be displayed at all times.

1        All team members will play by the rules on every play.  Play as hard as you can by the rules until the whistle blows.  No Cheap shots!

2        No foul or disrespectful language will be tolerated

3        Absolutely no temper tantrums will be tolerated.  If something does not go well, get up, shake it off and give your best effort on the next play.

4        No player will return a cheap shot if one is done to him.   Teammates will work together to get our player back to the huddle and continue the game by the rules (Remember the cheap shot returned is almost always the one that receives the penalty)

5        Let me know immediately if dirty play occurs

6        At the end of the game genuinely congratulate your opponents on their effort no matter what the score was.

CHARACTER BUILDING:  Learning the value of hard work and sacrifice towards achievement as a team is the essence of what we are trying to accomplish this season.

1        Our success will be marked the character development of each player beyond any other measures

2        The key to the character building process is our combined effort to ensure that the valuable lessons learned on the field are applied at home, in school and  other areas and visa versa

3        Finally, the bottom line is that as fantastic as football is for all involved it is only complimentary to the responsibilities of home and school and should never take precedence over family or academics.

FUN:  Despite all the important values to be gained from our program, the bottom line is that if our program is not a lot of fun for everyone involved, it would not be worth so much of our time and effort

            1.  I am committed to staying in touch with each of our players to ensure that they are having a positive experience

            2. Each player will have input to their position assignments

            3.  Efforts will be made to integrate fun activities into the intense work at practice and on game days

Administrative Rules:

1.      All Football issues go through the coordinators then to me as needed

2.      All player and player/parent concerns go directly to me. I will be continuously available to players and parents before and after every practice and game and also by email and cell phone if needed.

3.      Players are expected to communicate directly with me regarding schedule conflicts, injuries/illnesses etc so we can make the team adjustments needed to cover any absences.  I encourage parents to support this direct player coach communication in order to promote our character building efforts.

4.      Parents should remain away from the players during both practices and games barring any emergency or specific invitation by me to participate in the activity at hand.  This is important so that all players and coaches can stay focused on our program.

5.      Parent Volunteers are truly needed and a valued part of our program.  The following are the opportunities as of now:

a.   Water Coordinator(s)

b.   Training Camp Completion Event Assistants

c.   Play count recorder during games

d.   Chains workers during home game

e.   Snack Bar Volunteers at Junior Redmen and NHS Games

 f.   End of Season Banquet Assistants

Notice to All ParentsPlease DO NOT stand on the sidelines during games.  This is not only a safety issue, but also hinders the coaches from effectively coaching our players.  Also, please refrain from approaching any of the Referees or MPR Monitors during games.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
